Chris Wood Competing in World Duathlon Championships!

4 July 2011

Chris Wood, an associate of a451, has been leading a double life! With his commitment to work you would not think he had time for any other activities but we were wrong –Chris Wood - Iron Man Contestant apparently he is quite the avid Triathlon and Iron Man contestant even competing for Team GB at the World Duathlon Championships this September!

This dedicated individual is managing not only to run his own business but also to train 16 hours a week for these contests, hoping to up this to 20 hours in the near future. These are gruelling duathlon’s that we could only dream of competing in, with the beginning being a 10km run, followed swiftly by a 40 km bike ride and finally being topped of by a further 5km run this really is an athletes game.

Chris has had an interest in sports since being at school and he competed in his first triathlon in 2002. With a desire to one day complete an Iron Man contest, Chris freely confesses he did not quite understand what he was taking on:

‘On reflection, I didn’t really understand nor appreciate what Iron Man was, nor really have any idea how or what it would take to get to the start line, let alone finish one.’

Chris’ chance encounter with Clive Middleton a 16 times completer of triathlons all over the world, led him to meet and train with other athletes, increasing his inspiration and ambitions.

When he represents Team GB at the World Duathlon Championships in Gijon Spain in September he is aiming for a personal best. With Chris hoping one day to compete in the Iron Man World Championships we want him to know that a451 are cheering him on from the sidelines!
